Goju Ryu Karate has its roots in China and Naha City in Okinawa. Kanryo Higoanna, a master of Naha-te, studied Chinese Boxing and other martial arts in China. Fourteen years later in 1882 he returned to Okinawa where, with his mastery of Naha-te, he evolved his system of combat.

Chogin Miagi, his best student, refined the system, having part hard (external, Go) and part soft (internal, Ju) thus becoming 'The Hard Soft School of China Hand' - Goju Ryu Karate. This was the first karate organisation to be considered a style.

Combat Karate is a true form of Goju Ryu Karate having its traditional roots and training methods while still evolving as a modern effective fighting and self defence system for today's use.
